AAU Volleyball Gives Back

ORLANDO, Fla (June 17, 2017) The AAU cares about the communities in which it hosts events. For the second year in a row, AAU volleyball has partnered with Feeding Children Everywhere, a national organization dedicated to fighting hunger by assembling healthy meals for hungry children.

Three waves of of players, coaches and officials along with AAU volleyball leadership and AAU staff, volunteered their time on June 16th to pack meals for children in Orlando, Cincincinatti, Louisville and two other cities.

These volunteers packed 80,000 meals for underprivileged youth at Orange County Convention Center.

“I strongly believe we should do more in athletics than just provide events,” said Dr. Roger J. Goudy, President/CEO of the AAU. “We're trying to do some positive things in addition to being a sports provider. That's important for the student-athletes in our programs. I want us to provide a great athletic experience and also include some kind of social responsibility and an awareness of giving back."

A second AAU Cares component has been added to this year's Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships.

For the first time this year, the AAU is partnering with The Side-Out Foundation to raise moneyfor breast cancer research. All participants are encouraged to wear pink for AAU’s Dig Pink Day dates on June 17, 21 and 25 to show support for stage IV breast cancer patients.
