RECAP: AAU VOLLEYBALL 17U NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

In a intense day of competition at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, four new champions were crowned in the 17U divisions of the 2015 AAU Girl’s Junior Volleyball National Championships. 

17 Open

AVC Cleveland Rox 17N Hawks won the division after starting off the tournament with a loss. They bounced back from that loss and racked up seven wins, enough to land them in the Gold bracket of the 17 Open division. The defeated the Milwaukee Sting 17 Gold and OEV 17-1 in two sets to advance to the championship game against the Illini Elite 17 Cardinal team. After winning the first set 25-19, the Hawks had a hard time nailing down the win, having to take the game to a 29-27 conclusion, ultimately winning them the gold! 

17 Premier

In the 2015 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships, the Upward Stars 17 Kevin team finished with only one loss, which was to EJC 17 Elite in their second to last game of pool play. They advanced to the gold bracket, first defeating Milwaukee Sting 17 Black and then Mizuno Northern Lights 17-2, each in two sets. They advanced to the championship game against TBVA 17O. This game was a bit more challenging and went into three sets. Upward Stars lost the first set, but dominated the second, 25-9. It was a close third set, but Upward Stars reached 15 first, clinching the gold medals and the trophy! 

17 Club

In the 17 Club division of the AAU Volleyball National Championships, the Gainesville Juniors 17 Elite team went undefeated for the entire tournament. They were only forced to go into three sets twice, once in pool play and the other in the semi-finals. Gainesville won the championship game handily, 25-13 and 25-15. 

17 Classic

 

Like the Gainesville Juniors in the Club division, the Chaska Juniors 17-1 team went undefeated in the 2015 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships. They had three games go into three sets, and won the championship game against Fl MOJO 17 Roxy easily, 25-21, 25-18.
