AAU Volleyball joins the Side-Out Foundation as an official Dig Pink Dig-A-Thon location to raise money for breast cancer researchORLANDO, Fla. -- Why is everyone wearing pink at the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships?
The pink socks, hair bows, and volleyballs are for more than just a pop of color. For our teams attending Nationals next week, we will “go pink” on June 16th, 20th & 24th as part of our annual Dig Pink® event to support The Side-Out Foundation.
For the fifth year in a row, AAU Volleyball joins the Side-Out Foundation to partake in Dig Pink® initiative. AAU Volleyball will being raising money to help with breast cancer research.
Want to do more than just wear pink?
Visit the Baden booth and purchase a Dig Pink® mini-ball! Proceeds will go toward the AAU Fund the Fight total! You can also contribute to the campaign directly.
In addition, on June 16, meet volleyball parent Megan Musca who will be at the Baden Booth. Megan discovered Dig Pink at AAU last summer. A breast cancer survivor herself, Megan was amazed to make the connection with Side-Out because she directly benefited from the type of report Side-Out provides to breast cancer patients.
“I saw all these players in pink and quickly realized there was something bigger happening here. One out of eight. That’s how many women face invasive breast cancer in their lifetimes. We are talking about one out of eight of our volleyball players we will watch at AAU Nationals someday taking on their own fight,” reflects Megan. “AAU and Side-Out make sure that none of these student-athletes will be alone in this journey. Without hesitation, hosting a Dig Pink event was the best thing our community has done and we will continue the tradition.”
