ORLANDO, Fla – The AAU Volleyball season has officially wrapped its 2020 campaign at the 47th AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships. The AAU is proud to have been able to provide athletes the opportunity to compete and participate this year in a safe environment.
The 2020 season might have been cut short for so many players across the globe, but AAU, with the partnership of the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando Health, Visit Orlando and other local and medical officials, created and implemented comprehensive social distancing and mitigation protocols while still hosting a top-notch event for our athletes, especially the high school seniors, who would be participating in their final AAU tournament.
Strict safety precautions were implemented, include rigorous cleaning and sanitation measures that enhanced daily routines already in place to promote a clean and healthy environment. Additionally, the courts were disinfected daily. Numerous hand sanitizing stations were made available throughout the facility, and game balls were sanitized between each match.
“This event was probably the most organized and safest with what is going on as it could have been,” commented a parent on AAU Volleyball social media. “[It was] very easy to get in each morning and very efficient with the staff and speed…I’m glad they allowed these players to finish with something to remember. Great job AAU.”
The 47th AAU Volleyball Junior National Championships brought 326 teams from across the nation to the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditated Orange County Convention Center for 8-days of competition. The divisions ranged from 12u to 18u, with several different skill levels for each age division. At the end of the day, AAU crowned 22 teams as National Champions.
